Call for Development Group Members – AS 7715 Train Detection review

The closing date for nominations – Friday 26 July 2024.

The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) is seeking nominations from industry representatives and subject matter experts to review Australian Standard 7715 Train Detection.

How will this product help the rail industry? 

The review of this product seeks to support harmonisation of Train Detection. Your contribution to the development of this review will help drive greater productivity and safety outcomes for the Australian and New Zealand Rail Industry.

About

The review of this RISSB product is to provide the Australian rail industry with a set of mandatory and recommended requirements for the detection of all trains/rolling stock/rail vehicles. This will ensure that the signalling system receives reliable, accurate, sufficient and up-to-date information regarding the position and movement of all detectable trains/rolling stock/rail vehicles necessary for the safe control of the railway.

This Standard specifies the safety, functional, reliability, availability, maintainability requirements for any member or participant of the Australian rail industry that is involved in any phase of the life cycle (as per the structure of the standard) for train detection systems both rail based and on trains.

Time commitment 

Development Group membership is voluntary and requires the support of your organisation to attend and contribute. There will be a minimum of six meetings held between August 2024 and February 2025.

How to contribute

Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit nominations for subject matter experts to join this Development Group to contribute to the overall depth and quality of the product.

As part of your nomination, can you please provide a brief including your contact details, position title, your interest in this development (materially affected party, subject matter expert, etc.), and any other information which further supports your participation. This information will assist us in ensuring balanced representation from all major interest categories in the development of this document.
