How will this help the rail industry?This Standard describes requirements for the interior environmental specification and performance of locomotive, passenger and infrastructure maintenance rolling stock with a view to provide a safe and comfortable environment on rolling stock for humans. This Standard defines good environmental practice from existing legislation and other sources to incorporate requirements and recommendations for Australian rail networks. It aims to prevent injury and control fatigue to crew and passengers within railway rolling stock. This review shall consider the design, construction and maintenance of new, modified and existing rolling stock and will also consider new and emerging technologies that support decarbonisation, harmonisation and interoperability. Time commitmentDevelopment Group membership is voluntary and requires the support of your organisation to attend and contribute. There will be a minimum of six meetings held between January 2025 and February 2026. Further information on the responsibilities of a Development Group member can be obtained from the RISSB Website. How to contributeStakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit nominations for subject matter experts to join this Development Group to contribute to the overall depth and quality of the product. All nominations and enquiries are to be submitted via email to Jodie Matheson, Standards Development Manager at jmatheson@rissb.com.au. As part of your nomination, please provide a brief including your contact details, interest in this development (materially affected party, subject matter expert, etc.), and any other information supporting your participation. This information will assist us in ensuring balanced representation from all major interest categories in developing this document. The closing date for nominations is Tuesday 7 January 2025.
