The review of AS 7453 Recruitment and Selection of Rail Traffic Drivers is now open for Public Consultation.

About

RISSB is enthusiastic about extending its support to the National Rail Skills Hub with the review and enhancement of operational interoperability.

AS 7453 Recruitment and Selection of Rail Traffic Drivers has been reviewed and updated by a Development Group consisting of industry specialists.

As part of this review, the Development Group examined and addressed:

  • How well the initiatives and activities of the National Rail Skills Hub align with and receive support.
  • Aspects related to the recognition of diversity and inclusion requirements.
  • Interoperability and the consistent application of this Standard by all rail operators.

The Development Group recognised the importance of ensuring that this Standard reflects the contemporary recruitment and selection techniques. It is crucial for a process to be equitable for all applicants and provide an opportunity for the acknowledgment of prior learning.

As the rail industry’s accredited standards development organisation, RISSB continues to collaborate with government, rail operators and industry leaders to improve the efficiency and harmonisation of Australia and New Zealand’s rail network, ensuring national interoperability into the future.

How will this help the rail industry? 

AS 7453 Recruitment and Selection of Rail Traffic Drivers provides a more consistent approach to the recruitment and selection of rail traffic drivers within the Australian and New Zealand railway industry.

This review will help deliver a nationally harmonised Standard, enabling the rail industry to develop the talent needed to drive rail forward.

How to contribute

AS 7453 Recruitment and Selection of Rail Traffic Drivers will be available for public consultation for 60 days. All interested parties are encouraged to provide comments during this time.
