Call for Public Consultation – AS 7632 Railway Infrastructure – Signage

The closing date for comments – Friday, February 14, 2025.

The review of AS 7632 Railway Infrastructure – Signage is now open for a 60-day Public Consultation.

How will this help the rail industry? 

This review will provide industry stronger requirements and recommendations to drive harmonisation. AS 7632 Railway Infrastructure – Signage provides design, installation, and maintenance requirements for signage within the Australian and New Zealand railway industry.

About

AS 7632 Railway Infrastructure – Signage has been reviewed and updated by a Development Group consisting of industry specialists.

As part of this review, the Development Group examined and addressed:

  • Current requirements and recommendations regarding signage colours.
  • Improved readability and useability of the Standard.
  • Provided recommendations for standardised whistle boards, catch point, derail, and stop signs.

The Development Group recognised the importance of ensuring that this Standard reflects the current signage standards used across the industry. The addition of recommended harmonised signs supports the national drive towards harmonisation and interoperability.

How to contribute

AS 7632 Railway Infrastructure – Signage will be available for public consultation for until Friday 14 February 2025. All interested parties are encouraged to provide comments during this time.
