Code of Practice KPIs for Rail Infrastructure Performance
The closing date for comments – Thursday 22 May 2025
The Code of Practice KPIs for Rail Infrastructure Performance is now open for Public Consultation.
How this product helps the rail industry
This Code of Practice (CoP) will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of railway infrastructure asset performance, creating a safer, more productive railway industry.
It prescribes a system for managing performance indicators to measure infrastructure performance, taking into account influencing factors such as safety, environmental, economic, technical and organisational aspects.
Applying a chosen sub-set of performance indicators from this CoP can encourage asset and infrastructure managers to define objectives and strategies without requiring changes to existing inspection, maintenance or regulatory regimes.
About
This Code of Practice (CoP) identifies a set of possible performance indicators for a typical railway corridor of linear infrastructure assets with the aim of identifying a sufficient subset (of indicators) of the infrastructure performance that can be measured, analysed, monitored and reported.
How to contribute
The Code of Practice KPIs for Rail Infrastructure Performance will be available for public consultation for 30 days. All interested parties are encouraged to provide comments during this time.
