This year, our Work Plan features a number of exciting key updates and differences, in comparison to our previous plans. These changes include:
Another significant change, informed through engagement with industry leaders and governments, is an increased focus on product adoption. The work that RISSB undertakes is valuable, and we know we can add further value by having a greater emphasis on helping industry realise the benefits of our products. This can range from identifying potential barriers to adoption during our product development process, to offering targeted training to assist members imbed RISSB products into their operation. The 2023/24 Work Plan can be found here, and as always, we invite and encourage any feedback on the Work Plan (info@rissb.com.au), particularly ideas that can assist in improving product adoption and benefit realisation. Damien White PRODUCTSNew Standard – AS 7655: Wayside Electrical Charging Interface for Low Emissions Rolling Stock. We are now accepting nominations from people interested in joining a Development Group to develop a new Australian Standard® – AS 7655: Wayside Electrical Charging Interface for Low Emissions Rolling Stock. The definition of a standard set of interfaces would provide optionality for RSOs to choose their preferred method(s) whilst aligning with OEM solutions. Review of Standard AS 7502: Road Rail VehiclesWe are currently seeking nominations from people to join a Development Group to review and update Australian Standard® – AS 7502: Road Rail Vehicles. AS 7502 describes known good practice core requirements for the safe design, manufacturing, testing, maintenance, decommissioning and modifications of road rail vehicles to give industry a means of utilising this equipment for railway construction, maintenance and operations whilst reducing risks relating to road rail vehicle usage. Since the original version of AS 7502 was published in 2016, different types of road rail vehicles including excavators and shunt vehicles are becoming more prevalent in the rail industry. This review may also consider engineering innovations especially involving emerging technologies and low emission options such as electric vehicles, hybrids and alternate fuels. The closing date for nominations is Friday, 22 September 2023. For more information about this opportunity, please visit here. PEOPLE SPOTLIGHT ON... |
