The conference was held over three days, and featured insightful presentations and conversions about how we can move the rail industry into the future under the theme 'Reshaping Railways in an Uncertain World'. At RISSB, we are future focused, and are continually working towards improving Australia's railways through our products, training and engagement with industry. Engaging an experienced cross section of the Australian Rail community, RISSB will assist this Development Group deliver a nationally harmonised standard, enabling industry to develop the talent needed to drive rail forward. TRAINING AND EVENTSThe International Rail Safety Council (IRSC) 2023Last week, the 33rd IRSC Conference was held in Cape Town, South Africa, under the theme “Reshaping Railways in an Uncertain World”. The conference was very successful, and featured a huge array of international speakers. Some of the key themes covered included:
The conference offered an in-depth exchange of experiences on new developments, lessons learnt, and best practices to improve railway safety around the world. Australia was well represented at the conference with delegates from ONRSR, RISSB and the ARA. Following this year’s conference in Cape Town, Vienna, Austria was revealed as the host country for IRSC 2024. Shaping rail’s technical future with Horizons 6.0Last week, nominations opened for RISSB’s Horizons 6.0 program that will kick off in February 2024. Nominations for members are now open for the next two (2) weeks, so get in early to beat the rush as the Program can only accommodate 90 emerging leaders. The RISSB Horizons Program is part knowledge sharing and part leadership development. Most importantly, the Horizons Program seeks to address the challenges of the future rail industry, today.
