CEO MESSAGE

It’s always exciting when one of our RISSB staff members has the opportunity to promote the important work we are doing for industry. Our Standards Development Manager, Carly Wilson, will be chairing the upcoming Rail Turnouts Conference, hosted by Informa Australia.

Turnouts are an integral piece of equipment when it comes to rail safety and efficiency, which is why they have always been a key focus for RISSB. Carly will be discussing the work we are doing to improve the safety and effectiveness of rail turnouts, and how future-proofing, technology readiness, and a fresh look at asset management are among the industry priorities being pushed this year.

This year’s event will be co-located with the Heavy Haul Rail Conference, and is being held on Tuesday 12 March 2024 at the Crown Perth. You can find out more information and register your tickets here.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT ON
Qube Holdings

Qube is Australia's largest integrated provider of import and export logistics services with national operations that provide a broad range of services. Qube has been a participating member of RISSB since 2021.

Recently Qube has announced a significant investment in solar energy, taking its Picton facilities in the South West region of Western Australia entirely off grid. 

Qube Director of Bulk, Todd Emmert, said that their hope is "Qube’s Picton site will provide a template for what is possible with the right mix of available space and technology and will become the first of many ‘off-grid’ facilities in the Qube network.” 

Qube has said they are committed to industry-leading de-carbonisation plan, with an aspirational goal to reduce their scope 1 emissions intensity to zero by 2050.
