Whilst we in the industry can get consumed by major projects such as this, and excited about the scale and the complexity of the rolling stock, infrastructure, control systems, it’s useful to reflect on what these projects bring to the communities and cities that they serve, bringing:
This project creates a new and alternative way for the people of Sydney to get around; delivering a generational change where we can ditch our cars and instead rely on a safe, frequent, reliable public transport system! Damien White Bringing together industry innovators at the 2024 Connect Rail conferenceOn August 5 and 6 the annual Connect Rail conference took place in Sydney, where some of our RISSB staff members were lucky enough to present and attend. Featuring over 70 speakers and three conference streams, the full two-day program brought together the rail industry's innovators, decision-makers, adopters and operators who are bringing new technology to life. This year, Connect Rail focused on three specific streams; decarbonisation, rail operations and infrastructure. The event was a fantastic opportunity to see what the future of rail has to offer first-hand. RISSB's Board Director, Tim Kuyper moderated a panel during the conference, addressing the safety standards for new energy technology. The panel comprised of Marcelle Elzerman from Standards Australia, Roger Buckley from Aurizon, and Anitra Hobby from Pacific National. The event was a rare opportunity to bring together key industry and government stakeholders, customers, researchers, suppliers and young rail professionals to showcase the exciting developments that are driving new possibilities, opportunities and benefits for our industry. Thank you to Informa Australia for hosting the conference. We are looking forward to next years event!
