RISSB Visits Key Stakeholders 

RISSB continues to visit RISSB stakeholders to update them on activities, what’s planned for 2019/20 and also hand out toothbrushes for RISSB’s “Start your day thinking of safety” initiative.

RISSB Appoints New Industry Director to its Board

The RISSB Board is pleased to announce it has appointed Mr Scott Cornish to its Board as Industry Director – Passenger Operations.

Currently Executive General Manager Safety, Risk and Assurance at Queensland Rail, Scott brings extensive leadership and risk management experience to the RISSB Board.

Scott has 30 years’ experience in the global oil and gas, transport and logistics industries, holding senior management roles encompassing operations, HSE, security and the community.

In his current position, Scott is responsible for all workplace health and safety, rail safety assurance and risk and compliance activities across Queensland Rail.

RISSB is looking forward to Scott joining its Board and working on behalf of its passenger rail members. 
 

Configuration Management for Railway Contractors to be Published in July

A Guideline for contractors on configuration management is finalised and, subject to Board approval, will be published in July.

This Guideline explains how to apply configuration management principles in a contracting environment.

Safety Critical Communications Course
Brisbane I  6-7 August 2019

Among other things, this 2-day course will cover:

• Communications planning
• Safety communication modes – verbal, non-verbal and track side safety signs and symbols
• Organisational responsibility – safety is everyone’s responsibility
• Safety critical communications protocols
• Identifying barriers to effective safety critical communications and learning how to overcome them
• How to communicate in the event of an abnormal event or emergency
   

Horizons Program June 2019

Horizons participants will enjoy a jam packed program when they attend the 18 June forum. The program includes presentations from participants on how to double the capacity of the network, a workshop led by Bernard Schokman from Design Moshpit and panels of rail experts and leaders discussing challenges and opportunities for rail and leadership in times of disruption.
