Horizons Program 3.0 Comes Up With Brilliant Ideas

The H3.0 Program participants excelled this week with 10 groups presenting their new ideas for rail.

The ideas covered an enormous range of topics including a proposed national forum, automated risk registers (both near and dear to RISSB’s role), applications of AI, robotics, solar power for rail, an app for freight logistics, a proposal to combine commuting with exercising, ways of reducing overhead wiring issues, continuous connectivity for passengers and UV cleaning robots on public transport.  

MasterClass Webinar Duratrack Sleepers Tuesday, 10 August 2021

Integrated Recycling's General Manager, Stephen Webster, will be talking about the circular economy and how his company's innovative Duratrack sleepers recently received type approval from  V/Line and Metro Trains Melbourne following in-track trials, and how the sleepers can help meet targets set by each government for the use of recycled products.

Stephen will also highlight the collaboration with the Institute of Railway
Technology, Monash University, the Victorian Government and accredited rail
operators in bringing about this innovation.

RISSB Starts Training Industry Consultation

RISSB is reaching out to rail companies to outline its training program options that will be available in coming weeks. A number of companies have approached RISSB to discuss what is available – ranging from online short, professional development courses to longer accredited courses RISSB has offered for some years through registered training organisations. The longer courses are being converted to blended courses and will be available in two formats (blended and face to face).

This year's Rail Safety Week will be held from 9-15 August 2021.

Run by our good friends at the TrackSAFE Foundation, Rail Safety Week is an annual community awareness week held in Australia & New Zealand, designed to engage the community in safe rail practices.
