AS 7510.3 Braking Systems Part 3: - Multiple Unit Passenger Rolling Stock Update
Last week, a kick off meeting was held for the aged review of AS 7510.3 Braking Systems Part 3: - Multiple Unit Passenger Rolling Stock. To date the Development Group has provided some initial feedback on the existing Standard and we expect to develop a full draft in the coming weeks.
This Standard is a part of the AS 7510 series, with the review of AS 7510.2 also currently underway (and slightly more advanced). With the development of Standards in a series such as these, we take great care to ensure that the content for each part is not developed in isolation and where possible common methodology is applied throughout the series. In the case of these two developments currently underway, we are lucky to have several Development Group members assisting on both groups which is ideal for applying a consistent approach.
AS 7531 Lighting And Visibility Update
The Development Group for AS 7531 Lighting and Visibility met again last week to continue its work discussing
the comments received throughout public consultation (PC), which concluded at the end of May 2022. Due to the large number of comments received, this meeting was the fourth post PC meeting carried out in recent weeks, with the fifth planned for the eighth of August.
Recruitment And Training of Network Control Officers Code of Practice Update
The Development Group met last week to discuss the feedback received on the last draft. A number of recommendations were discussed, including proficiency development and refinement of terms. This draft will be presented to the Development Group in the coming days, with the next meeting scheduled in late August.
AS 7726 Interface between Train Control Systems and Rolling Stock Update
This complex Standard has had significant work done on it since the last Development Group meeting, and was recently re-released for their consideration.
Given the complexities of this subject there are many areas to cover and RISSB is working hard with the author and the Development Group to find a common ground on the depth of discussion and how the Standard could be practically applied. Further discussions will be held once the review period has closed in late August.
