RISSB at AusRAILLast week we participated in AusRAIL (the largest rail event in the southern hemisphere) which took place at the Sydney International Convention Centre from 3-5 December 2019. We took this opportunity to strengthen relationships with members of our standing committees as well as make new connections at the many networking events on offer. During the three day conference and exhibition, we attended many thought-provoking seminars and discussed, debated and exchanged experiences on rail safety, interoperability / harmonisation, and national rules. New Approaches to Track Worker Safety Last week RISSB hosted a cross industry workshop to try to bring new ideas and new perspectives to this persistent issue in our industry. TRAINING AND EVENTSHORIZONS UPDATEEvery fortnight we'll be introducing our new Horizons 2 participants to you. This week say hello to Thao Holmes, Robbie Filliponi and Behrouz Amani. I’m Robbie Filliponi, the Manager Rail Accreditation at Queensland Rail. My background in rail includes rail safety investigations and managing safety programs for both regional and South East Queensland below-rail operations. My current role includes maintaining internal systems to assist Queensland Rail with meeting rail safety legislative duties. What interests me most about rail is the continual learning through the diverse roles and opportunities on offer where previous experiences can offer value. In five years’ time, I’d like to be in a position to look back at some key achievements to improving safety for both our customers and our people who work in a high risk and constantly evolving environment. My name is Behrouz Amani and I’m the Senior. Project Engineer at V/line based in Melbourne. My job is to manage and deliver major track maintenance projects all around Victoria to keep regional network live and safe for commuters. Basically, I scope up a work-package, develop a solution, review designs, put together a required paper work, engage a contractor, organize materials, supervise the contractor during construction and get the job done, then move on to a next package. I joined Horizons 2 to get an exposure of other aspect of rail industry, seeking state of art knowledge in rail and see what other people doing in their area. Build up the network and sharing experience with other rail experts is an unique opportunity which i’m looking forward to it. Outside of work, I’m self studying playing piano as a beginner. Hope it works! My name is Thao Holmes, I’m an asset information analyst for Asset Management branch in Public Transport Victoria (now part of Department of Transport). My role is to help ensure that the organisation has complete asset information to enable understanding and reporting of asset configuration, condition and performance. I joined the Horizon program to broaden my knowledge and insight, especially on rail industry trends and initiative that will influence and drive continuous improvement for asset information requirement. Outside of work, I enjoy a bit of fun times with my family and friends and occasionally I like to paint. Copyright 2019 RISSB, All rights reserved. Brisbane Office Melbourne Office Postal Address |
