Train Control Systems Standing Committee Update The Train Control Systems Standing Committee met this week to discuss RISSBs current projects and the proposed workplan for 2020/21. This included the committee voting on the proposed standards for development in 2020/21, with the outcome of this voting being forwarded to the RISSB board for consideration. Operations Standing Committee Update The Operations Standing Committee met this week with a few new faces – Mitchell Sweeney from ARTC and Rino Matarazzo from Sydney Trains. Welcome aboard! Rail R U OK? Day is 30 April 2020 Thursday, 30 April is Rail R U OK? Day an annual industry-wide event that inspires rail staff across Australia and New Zealand to look out for one another during life's (including worklife's) ups and downs by asking "Are you OK?" and really listening to the answer. AS 1085.20 Welding of Steel RailThis month the Development Group members will be reviewing recent updates in response to comments received during public consultation and previous Development Group deliberations. AS 7663 Railway Signal Cables After a final review by the Development Group, this reviewed Standard has been released for public consultation. The aim of the Standard is to have all Rail Infrastructure Managers using the same cables to reduce costs and provide greater certainty to suppliers. AS 7658 Level Crossings The Development Group met this week to finalise the public comment review. Given the significant number of changes to this Standard, a second round of public consultation is being prepared. AS 7703 Railway Signalling - Power Supplies The Development Group met this week to work through some recommended changes to this important Standard so that differences between AS 3000 Wiring Rules and the needs of the railway industry are properly addressed. AS 7663 Railway Signal Cables AS 7663 Railway Signal Cables is now available for an 8-week public consultation. UK's Rail Safety and Standards Board Launches Revised Rail Industry Health and Safety Strategy We value the partnerships with our overseas counterparts and we're happy to promote the good work they've been doing to drive the safety agenda.
